Second Amendment Organization Opposes Nomination of Waco Killer David Chipman to Head the ATF

On the 28th anniversary of the violent end to the Waco Siege, the National Association for Gun Rights condemned the nomination of David Chipman to be director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

At the time, Chipman was an ATF field agent who posed in a photo in the rubble of the ATF siege that claimed the lives of 76 people, including 25 children.

“Nominating David Chipman to head the ATF is absolutely abhorrent. Choosing Chipman to direct the ATF is about as smart as nominating Ted Kaczynski to head the United States Postal Service,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights. “We’re actively mobilizing our 4.5 million members in opposition to his nomination.”

At the moment, David Chipman works as a gun control advocate and senior lobbyist for Giffords – a civilian disarmament organization that has recently become prominent in its gradual efforts to regulate, and eventually abolish the Second Amendment.

On previous occasions, Chipman has given multiple testimonies before Congress, where he has called for infringing on the Second Amendment rights of lawful Americans.

“No presidential administration should ever nominate someone for a law enforcement leadership job who was an active participant in government sanctioned mass murder. Chipman’s confirmation vote is a watershed moment for any U.S Senator who claims even cursory support for the Second Amendment,” Brown said in his concluding remarks.

Chipman’s nomination is shaping up to be one of the biggest fights for Second Amendment supporters in the next few months….
