And silver of course. Bankers hate silver because it’s much more plentiful and cheap (and thus difficult to control) but still very functional as a medium of exchange. But the problem isn’t that the dollar is fiat money. Money is whatever people accept as payment for goods and services. In that sense gold is as fiat as a dollar bill, neither having any intrinsic value in industry or energy generation or whatever. The problem is that dollars represent public debt to concentrations of wealth. See monetary.org
“We’ve repeatedly pointed out that there are many indicators which show that the last 5 years have been worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s, including:
- The housing slump
- The interconnectedness of financial systems and economies worldwide (interconnectedness leads to financial instability)
- Runaway spending and greed
Mark McHugh reports:
Velocity of money is the frequency with which a unit of money is spent on new goods and services. It is a far better indicator of economic activity than GDP, consumer prices, the stock market, or sales of men’s underwear (which Greenspan was fond of ogling). In a healthy economy, the same dollar is collected as payment and subsequently spent many times over. In a depression, the velocity of money goes catatonic. Velocity of money is calculated by simply dividing GDP by a given money supply. This VoM chart using monetary base should end any discussion of what ”this” is and whether or not anybody should be using the word “recovery” with a straight face:
In just four short years, our “enlightened” policy-makers have slowed money velocity to depths never seen in the Great Depression.
“Indeed, the number of Americans relying on government assistance to obtain basic food may be higher now that during the Great Depression. The only reason we don’t see the “soup lines” like we did in the 30s only because of the massive food stamp program.
“And while apologists for government and bank policy point to unemployment as being better than during the 1930s, even that claim is debatable. …”
AbstractCircumcision psychopathology is defined as a personality disorder characterized by a cluster of interpersonal, affective, lifestyle, and antisocial traits and behaviors, including grandiosity, egocentricity, deceptiveness, shallow emotions, lack of empathy or remorse, irresponsibility, impulsivity, and a strong tendency to violate ethical norms. In this article, standard methods for the assessment of circumcision psychopathy are outlined. Circumcision psychopathy is conceptually similar to antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV). However, at the measurement level, the former places more emphasis on interpersonal and affective features and their links to broad antisocial tendencies, while the latter emphasizes overt antisocial behaviors. Its association with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) and its implications for clinical and forensic issues, including risk assessment, crime and violence are discussed. Circumcision psychopathy is associated with an increased risk for antisocial behavior, deviant sexual impulses, and presents the mental health and criminal justice systems with a formidable therapeutic challenge.
“The Associated Press has launched a whitewash of the recent controversy which saw numerous different branches of the federal government purchase large quantities of ammunition, focusing on the Social Security Administration’s purchase of 174,000 bullets while completely ignoring a far larger purchase by the DHS which totaled over 1.4 billion bullets.
“According to the AP, “The episode illustrates what can happen when a seemingly salacious tidbit gets amplified and embellished on the Internet,” making reference to a Jay Leno skit in which the comedian asked, “What senior citizens are they worried about? I mean, who’s going to storm the building?”
“However, the larger issue is the fact that the AP story attempts to build a strawman argument by focusing only the SSA’s purchase of bullets and completely omitting the far more alarming fact that DHS has purchased over 1.4 billion – that’s BILLION with a B – bullets in the past few months alone.
“Back in March, Homeland Security put out a solicitation for 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage, prompting questions as to why the DHS needed such a large amount of powerful bullets merely for training purposes. This was followed by another DHS solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.
“Although the ammo purchases are ostensibly earmarked for training purposes, the DHS has been reticent to clarify why such an unusually large amount of rounds are necessary and why such powerful bullets are required merely for training drills.
“This has led to speculation that the purchases are connected to confirmed preparations for civil unrest in the United States, a claim bolstered by the DHS’ purchase of riot gear. …”
AP fails to explain why expensive hollow-point bullets are needed for target practice, not to mention why they are needed in such quantities.
This was the media conglomerate that suppressed the iran/contra/cocaine scandal for months while one of their journalists (Robert Parry) tried to break the story.
“Following controversy over its purchase of around 1.2 billion bullets in the last six months alone, the Department of Homeland Security has put out a new solicitation for over 200 million more rounds of ammunition, some of which are designated to be used by snipers.
“A series of new solicitations posted on the FedBizOpps website show that the DHS is looking to purchase 200 million rounds of .223 rifle ammunition over the next four years, as well as 176,000 rounds of .308 caliber 168 grain hollow point boat tail (HPBT) rounds in addition to 25,000 rounds of blank .308 caliber bullets. As James Smith over at the Prepper Podcast website highlights, “It is the type of ammunition and not necessarily the quantity that is troubling.” Smith points out that the DHS’ acquisition of .308 rounds is of concern because they are set to be used by well-trained snipers.
“All of the sniper grade ammunition is being used by trained, or in-the-process-of-being-trained snipers,” writes Smith, noting that the math adds up to 135,384 potential kills for the snipers to make, using the 176,000 rounds of ammunition, basing the figures on the fact that United States Army and Marine Corps snipers in the Vietnam War expended 1.3 rounds of ammunition for each claimed and verified kill. …”
“Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) has developed a novel variety of genetically-modified (GM) wheat that contains an altered protein and enzyme-suppressing mechanism that some scientists are now saying could cause serious problems for the human liver. A recent report compiled by several acclaimed experts in the field of genetics says that children born to parents who consume this GM wheat variety could actually end up dying before they reach the age of five.
“This shocking revelation comes at the same time as CSIRO has announced that Australia’s Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) has granted the group approval for two field trials of both wheat and barley that have been modified in this untested way. Since the technology directly inhibits an enzyme in wheat that is very closely linked to glycogen, a polysaccharide produced in the liver, consuming wheat or barley that contains these genetic alterations will very likely lead to liver failure, and eventually death.
“If this (technology) silences the same sort of gene in us — as it silences in the wheat — then, well, children who are born with this enzyme not working tend to die by the age of about five,” says Professor Judy Carman, a biochemist and director of the IHER, Flinders University, who helped compile the report. “And adults with this problem, just kind of get more and more sick, and more and more tired, until they get very, very ill indeed.”
A leaked training manual used in the State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) program for law enforcement and funded by the Department of Justice lists political bumper stickers expressing opposition to the United Nations and support for the bill of rights as indications of terrorist activity.
The presentation documents, leaked to the Public Intelligence website, are entitled Terrorism Training For Law Enforcement and are marked “law enforcement sensitive.” The program is funded by grants from the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance. Slides for the presentation depict the kind of behavior that law enforcement officials should be wary of in spotting potential terrorists during highway patrols.
One of the slides – entitled “Fourth Amendment Issues” – notes that “a suspicious map located on the passenger seat” could warrant further investigation as a potential indicator of terrorism.
Another slide entitled “General Right Wing Extremist” – depicts suspicious bumper stickers that should warrant further investigation by cops conducting traffic stops. The bumper stickers read, “Know Your Rights Or Lose Them,” and “If You Love Your Country, the U.N. Is Not Your Friend!,” and “Get US Out Of the United Nations”.
Under the category of “Special-Interest/Single Issue Terrorism,” the slide characterizes people who hold political opinions that “represent a fairly popular point of view” as terrorists. Anti-abortion activists are also listed as terrorists under this category.
Another slide lists people who are “antigenetic engineering” as terrorists. Presumably, that includes people who are concerned about a new study which found that rats fed with genetically-engineered Monsanto corn suffered premature deaths. …
