- Robin Cook on origins of Al Qaeda
Note the last link. Robin Cook, former UK foreign secretary, died suddenly less than a month after this article was published. This passage is probably why:
… Bin Laden was, though, a product of a monumental miscalculation by western security agencies. Throughout the 80s he was armed by the CIA and funded by the Saudis to wage jihad against the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. Al-Qaida, literally “the database”, was originally the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen who were recruited and trained with help from the CIA to defeat the Russians. Inexplicably, and with disastrous consequences, it never appears to have occurred to Washington that once Russia was out of the way, Bin Laden’s organisation would turn its attention to the west….
Can you imagine any self-respecting paramilitary “liberation” group naming itself “the database”? That’s because it was named by its CIA handlers, of course. Made in washington, from day one.
In any case, Cook didn’t connect all the dots. It’s very obvious that washington fully expected and intended that AQ turn its attention to the west, to help stage its 9/11 false flag and its other ongoing justifications for invading the mideast in support of the petrodollar.
