U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials are releasing approximately 5,600 illegal aliens into three Texas towns.
Of that number, at least 19 have been treated at local hospitals for a “fever.”
While speaking with the Brownsville Herald, Brownsville City Manager Noel Bernal said CBP officials informed him that the 5,600 migrants will be released this week in Brownsville, Harlingen, and McAllen.
“That’s the total number we are aware of and are preparing to process to handle,” Bernal said.
In addition to that, Bernal revealed that 19 migrants in Brownsville alone were running fevers and taken to the local hospital to be treated.
The massive release comes after U.S. Border Patrol Sector Chief Agent Rodolfo Karisch indicated that the the Rio Grande Valley Sector’s resources are “overwhelmed and over-stretched.”
