Higher Levels of Fluoride Consumption Linked with ADHD in Children & more

According to University of Toronto and York University researchers, higher levels of fluoride during pregnancy have been linked with more ADHD-like symptoms in school-age children.

“Our findings are consistent with a growing body of evidence suggesting that the growing fetal nervous system may be negatively affected by higher levels of fluoride exposure,” said Dr. Morteza Bashash, the study’s lead author and researcher at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

The study, “Prenatal Fluoride Exposure and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Symptoms in Children at 6-12 Years of Age in Mexico City,” published in Environment International, analyzed data from 213 mother-child pairs in Mexico City that were part of the Early Life Exposures in Mexico to Environmental Toxicants (ELEMENT) project, which recruited pregnant women from 1994 to 2005 and has continued to follow the women and their children ever since.

Tap water and dental products have been fluoridated in communities in Canada and the United States (as well as milk and table salt in some other countries) by varying amounts for more than 60 years in an attempt to prevent cavities. These assumptions were later dismissed by hundreds of scientific publications which showed that internal consumption of fluoridated water had no effect on tooth decay.

In recent years, fierce debate over the safety of water fluoridation — particularly for children’s developing brains — has fueled researchers to explore the issue and provide evidence to inform national drinking water standards.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says dental fluorosis is highest among adolescents between the ages of 12 an 15. One reason for the increase in fluorosis: Americans are now exposed to fluoride from a variety of sources, including toothpaste, mouth rinses and prescription supplements, the Department of Health and Human Services says.

Fluoride was found to be an equivocal carcinogen by the National Cancer Institute Toxicological Program. “In point of fact, fluoride causes more human cancer death, and causes it faster than any other chemical,” stated Dr. Dean Burk PhD who spent over three decades with the national cancer institute…

The FBI Says It Can Neither Confirm Or Deny Social Media Monitoring Programs It Publicly Secured Contracts For

It’s no secret the FBI engages in social media surveillance. It has a contract with Dataminr to sift through tweets directly from Twitter’s firehose. For years it has engaged in suspicionless pre-investigation “assessments,” which compile every publicly-available piece of information the agency can gather without a warrant or subpoena. (Assessments also allow the agency to gather info from law enforcement-only databases, but that’s not the issue at hand here.) From this starting point, the FBI can decide whether or not the person it targeted in its non-investigation investigation is worth investigating.

Public posts on social media services have zero expectation of privacy. All the same, one likes to believe the government has better things to do with its limited resources than scour the public-facing web for unlawful tweets or whatever. Clearly, the software the agency uses limits manpower expenditures while allowing the feds to act as unseen followers/friends of thousands of people’s social media timelines, but it’s still haystacks someone needs to make sense of.

The FBI’s social media surveillance is an open secret. Of course, now that it’s being pressed for details by the ACLU, it’s trying to pretend it has no idea what everyone — including the FBI — is talking about….

Alarming numbers of violent injuries among schoolchildren

Nearly 1 in 5 fifth-graders has received violent injuries, the majority delivered by guns or knives, according to recently published research by The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

The study, published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, analyzed data from 4,300 children when they were in fifth, seventh, and 10th grades at public schools in districts in and around cities in three U.S. communities: Houston, Los Angeles County, and Birmingham, Alabama. The children were questioned over time to see whether the number and type of injury changed.

The likelihood of injury increased as children became older, with 1 in 3 high school-age children sustaining a gunshot, stabbing wound, or assault-related injury needing medical attention.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which funded the research, bullying is common in high schools nationwide. These findings shed new light on the type of injuries occurring among children and who is most affected — bullies or victims of bullying.

“The biggest surprise was the sheer scale of intentional violent injuries children are suffering, even at elementary school age. It was also unexpected to discover how it’s not bullying victims, but bullies themselves who are most likely to get seriously hurt,” said first author Katelyn Jetelina, PhD, MPH. “This suggests the act of bullying may not necessarily be violent enough for victims to sustain serious injuries, and that bullies may be involved in other harmful behaviors.” Jetelina is an assistant professor of epidemiology, human genetics, and environmental sciences at UTHealth School of Public Health in Dallas….

Well gee I guess it must be that human genes are mutating.   Or maybe it’s global warming.   Maybe they aren’t getting enough quality time with their TV.   Or enough aluminum in their vaccines.  Or enough fluoride in their water.  Or enough sugar and artificial colors and flavors and random GMO allergens in their food.  Or enough violence-inducing psych drugs.  Maybe they’re overenthusiastic about their common core lessons.   Maybe they weren’t tortured and brain damaged enough when they were born.   Maybe their baby formula was deficient in aluminum.   Or the ultrasound machine wasn’t turned up high enough.   Or their cell phone isn’t being held close enough to their head.   Oh yeah, some of them were probably born male.   Not much to be done about that, but they’re working on it.

Something is seriously wrong with this society’s treatment of children.   And it’s coming from the top, including the poverty and hopelessness.

The state is an abusive parent.

Johnstone: Mainstream Media Is Literally Making People Sick

A new, updated data set is now available on a psychological phenomenon that has been labeled “Trump Anxiety Disorder” or “Trump Hypersensitive Unexplained Disorder,” and it says that the phenomenon only got worse in 2018. The disorder is described as a specific type of anxiety in which symptoms “were specific to the election of Trump and the resultant unpredictable sociopolitical climate,” and according to the 2018 surveys Americans are feeling significantly more stressed by the future of their country and the current political environment than they were last year….

I do not for one second doubt that Americans are feeling more stressed and suffering more health-degrading symptoms as a result than they were prior to Trump’s election. But Pacific Standard and its “growing body of research” ignore the most obvious and significant culprit behind this phenomenon which is tearing people’s health to shreds: the mass media which has been deliberately fanning the flames of Trump panic.

The always excellent Moon of Alabama blog has just published a sarcasm-laden piece documenting the many, many aggressive maneuvers that this administration has made against the interests of Russia, from pushing for more NATO funding to undermining Russia’s natural gas interests to bombing Syria to sanctioning Russian oligarchs to dangerous military posturing.

And yet the trending, most high-profile stories about Trump today all involve painting him as a Putin puppet who is working to destroy America by taking a weak stance against an alarming geopolitical threat. This has had the effect of manufacturing demand for even more dangerous escalations against a nuclear superpower that just so happens to be a longtime target of U.S. intelligence agencies.

If the mass media were in the business of reporting facts, there would be a lot less “Putin’s puppet” talk and a lot more “Hey, maybe we should avoid senseless escalations which could end all life on earth” talk among news media consumers. But there isn’t, because the mass media is not in the business of reporting facts, it’s in the business of selling narratives. Even if those narratives are so shrill and stress-inducing that they imperil the health of their audience.

Like His Predecessors

Trump is clearly not a Russian asset, he’s a facilitator of America’s permanent unelected government just like his predecessors, and indeed as far as actual policies and administration behavior goes he’s not that much different from Barack Obama and George W Bush. Hell, for all his demagogic anti-immigrant speech Trump hasn’t even caught up to Obama’s peak ICE deportation years. If the mass media were in the business of reporting facts, people would be no more worried about this administration than they were about the previous ones, because when it comes to his administration’s actual behavior, he’s just as reliable an upholder of the establishment-friendly status quo as his predecessors….

IMHO, there seem to be two main constituencies in washington, those who want a return to the unsustainable old days of an increasingly polarized rich/poor “democratic” empire reigning over most of the rest of the world (the trump faction) and those who prefer to subsume the american empire into the even more toxic transnational NWO (the bush/clinton faction).    They are both milestones on the road to a totalitarian nightmare, but the trump model holds out some hope by  delaying the banker’s wet dream while the public continues to awaken.   Once there is no regional self determination (nationalism) or pretense of popular political participation at all, there will no legal obstacle to prevent the newly emergent high tech AI global fascist state from moving its battlefields from national boundaries into the heads of its peasants.   Organized resistance would be nearly impossible.  Not a pretty picture.

Hold on tightly to your bill of rights.   If you lose them, you lose everything.
