Status Quo: You’re in the Army Now

A vacation in a foreign land
Uncle Sam does the best he can
You’re in the army now
Oh, oh you’re in the army – now

Now you remember what the draft man said
Nothing to do all day but stay in bed

You’ll be the hero of the neighbourhood
Nobody knows that you left for good

Smiling faces as you wait to land
But once you get there no one gives a damn

Hand grenades flying over your head – – – – – –
Missiles flyin’ over your head if you wanna survive
Get out of bed

Shots ring out in the dead of night
The sergeant calls: “Stand up and fight!”

You got your orders standing to shoot on sight
Your finger’s on the trigger but it don’t seem right

Night is falling and you just can’t see
Is this illusion or reality

Cliff notes version: You are surrounded by profitable lies.   All the time, in all directions, for often obscure or historical or incredible or diabolical or trivial reasons, handed down from your parents, your real and virtual friends, your teachers and preachers.   Self-perpetuating, multigenerational imprinted lies living and thriving on an AI substrate of human culture, intelligence, fear and denial.  Lies pulling on your heart strings, lies burrowing into your analytical mind, lies preying on your compassion and your lack of confidence and your desire to trust and your inevitable ignorance, all very plausible and comforting and inspiring and wrong.

This is a very old business model. You’re living in the matrix, and it feeds from your highest, most sacred aspirations.   Because it is not human and it’s not motivated by human emotions.   It is a socioeconomic machine, a standing wave riding on the passage of time and a flux of multiple human generations.   How could it be otherwise?   Look at nature.  Sunshine + complexity = life.    We power the lies that we believe.

Everything you think you know about the world is suspect, especially if it affects your economic or political behavior.

No matter how cynical you are, it’s not enough.

Test starts tomorrow.    Bring your skepticism.  Calculator not allowed.
