The Insanity of Importing Chinese Poultry

In 2006, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) submitted a list of regulations to the White House aimed at helping China get into the U.S. chicken market by certifying Chinese facilities to process U.S.-raised poultry for sale back in the States.

Tony Corbo, a lobbyist at the nonprofit public interest organization Food and Water Watch, followed the decision closely, because food processing in China was notoriously poor. Chinese authorities had identified insecticide-soaked hams, soy sauce made from human hair and, in 2004, fake milk powder that gave babies the sometimes fatal “big head disease” (so named because it caused their heads to swell and bodies to wither). Normally, Corbo says, such a decision from the White House could take “months if not years” to come through. But just one day later, the White House gave its approval. Corbo was puzzled until, the following morning, China’s president at the time, Hu Jintao, visited then U.S. president George W. Bush in Washington, D.C. “[The approval] was a gift,” Corbo concluded. But for what, exactly, wasn’t clear.

After the ruling, USDA inspectors went to China and determined that Chinese poultry plants were eligible to process U.S. chickens. But food problems persisted in the country. Before the year was out, people in China were sickened by fish tainted with illegal antibiotics, vegetables covered in pesticides, snails infected with meningitis and poultry carrying the avian flu virus. Congress voted to completely defund the USDA’s poultry inspections of Chinese imports.

Soon China’s certification lapsed, but it appealed to the World Trade Organization, which ruled in 2009 that Congress’s treatment of the country was unfair. Funding was restored and the process of approval began again. A series of USDA audits followed, all of which found China unfit to process U.S. poultry. Then, in 2013, without further inspection, the agency granted four Chinese plants certification. “It seems China is continually getting to the head of the line,” Corbo says.

Between 2006 and 2014, China’s food industry continued to scare people. As Representative Christopher Smith, R-New Jersey, noted in a June 2014 hearing on Chinese food issues, the country produced “meat that glows in the dark, exploding watermelons, bean sprouts containing antibiotics, rice contaminated with heavy metals, mushrooms soaked with bleach, and pork so filled with stimulants that athletes were told not to eat it lest they test positive for banned substances.” Since 2007, more than a 1,000 dogs in the U.S. have died after eating Chinese-made pet food containing poultry. “[The FDA has] tested for all the pathogens they know of,” says Barbara Kowalcyk, the Senior Food Safety Risk Analyst at RTI International, a nonprofit research organization. “There is something in there causing dogs to die. It’s baffled officials here in the U.S. for years. Why on earth would we allow it to come into the U.S. for human consumption?” …

Project Censored: Ray McGovern Speech 9/24/14

Today’s Project Censored Show presents a speech given by former CIA analyst Ray McGovern. After his retirement from the CIA, McGovern founded “Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity,” and has criticized US spy agencies for their lawbreaking, and subservience to the agendas of politicians. He spoke in Santa Rosa, California on September 24, 2014, at an event co-sponsored by Project Censored.

CDC & THE UN ARE FORCED TO ADMIT THAT EBOLA IS AIRBORNE

The United Nations is preparing the world for an overt admission that Ebola is airborne.  Anthony Banbury, the United Nations’ Ebola response chief warned of the “nightmare scenario” that Ebola is possibly now, and probably soon will be an airborne pathogen. This is precisely what I reported when I cited several peer review studies which demonstrated that Ebola was already known, by many researchers in the scientific community, to be airborne. …

The following was on the CDC website in early September and this is the mantra that the mainstream media is parroting as the “official and irrefutable doctrine of science”.

“The virus is spread through direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with blood and body fluids (urine, feces, saliva, vomit, and semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola, or with objects (like needles) that have been contaminated with the virus. Ebola is not spread through the air or by water or, in general, by food; however, in Africa, Ebola may be spread as a result of handling bushmeat (wild animals hunted for food) and contact with infected bats.” …

The following represents the present position on how Ebola is spread by the CDC.

“Ebola is killed with hospital-grade disinfectants (such as household bleach). Ebola on dried on surfaces such as doorknobs and countertops can survive for several hours; however, virus in body fluids (such as blood) can survive up to several days at room temperature.

If a symptomatic patient with Ebola coughs or sneezes on someone, and saliva or mucus come into contact with that person’s eyes, nose or mouth, these fluids may transmit the disease.

The CDC released a very hastily prepared advisory entitled Interim Guidance about Ebola Virus Infection for Airline Flight Crews, Cleaning Personnel, and Cargo Personnel. This smoking gun document reveals that the CDC is clearly concerned about likely airborne contamination of Ebola. The CDC urges airline staff to provide surgical masks to potential Ebola victims in order “to reduce the number of droplets expelled into the air by talking, sneezing, or coughing”. The phrase “expelled into the air means that there is clearly the existence of the “airborne transmission of Ebola “.

Of course, the aforementioned facts do not constitute new revelations to the CDC and the NIH. On May 8, 2002, over 12 years ago, a National Institute of Health publication stated that airborne transmission of Ebola “cannot be ruled out”. And for 12 years, the CDC has been publishing lies to the contrary….

Dr Lisa Brosseau and Dr Rachael Jones, in a research article published by CIDRAP, the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, clearly state that Ebola currently has “unclear modes of transmission…We believe there is scientific and epidemiologic evidence that Ebola virus has the potential to be transmitted via infectious aerosol particles both near and at a distance from infected patients, which means that healthcare workers should be wearing respirators, not facemasks…and the CDC’s contention that  Ebola is only communicable via direct contact is inaccurate.” …

MGM Fetishist Jailed for Pedophilia

A CIRCUMCISION fetishist and Catholic clergyman from Upper Norwood who targeted young boys and asked them to expose themselves has been locked up for more than two years.

Vernon Quaintance, 71, lured schoolboys for a drive in the countryside before asking them to drop their trousers under the pretence of inspecting whether or not they were circumcised.

The paedophile confessed to a string of offences against five young boys as young as 10 in the 1960s and 1970s.

The pervert, who was a member of Catholic society the Order of Malta, had also accumulated an archive of vile images.

Thousands of images were unearthed from his computer, many showing bloody and ritualistic circumcisions in the Brazilian rainforest.

Quaintance was a leader of pro-circucision group the Gilgal Society, a group claiming to promote male circumcision and ‘its benefits in terms of health, sexual satisfaction and self-image’.

But this was just a facade for the ‘distribution of images of young boys’ for erotic and paedophilic use, Southwark Crown Court heard today (Friday).

Gilgal is a Biblical site in Jericho and was also known in Hebrew as Gibeath-haaraloth – the Hill of the Foreskins….

Jailing him for two years and four months Judge Anthony Leonard QC said Quaintance used his interest in the surgical procedure to look at young boys.

“In my judgement, while I accept that you have had a lifelong interest in circumcision, the reason that you took those young boys to a secluded spot and asked to see their private parts – while it may have been inspired by your own interest – was clearly for sexual gratification,” he said. …

The judge doesn’t get it.  You can’t separate MGM from sexual gratification in the minds of those to commit it.  The very neurology of the act, carried over into the adult victimizer, is sadomasochistic. That’s why it’s so hard to eradicate.

Meet the Planetary Brain: The Global Banking Cartel

I would like to introduce you, the reader, to some realities of our global banking system, resting on the rhetoric of free markets, but functioning, in actuality, as a global cartel, a “super-entity” in which the world’s major banks all own each other and own the controlling shares in the world’s largest multinational corporations, influence governments and policy with politicians in their back pockets, routinely engaging in fraud and bribery, and launder hundreds of billions of dollars in drug money, not to mention arms dealing and terrorist financing. These are the “too big to fail” and “too big to jail” banks, the center of our global economy, what we call a “free market,” implying that the global banks – and corporations – have “free reign” to do anything they please, engage in blatantly criminal activities, steal trillions in wealth which is hidden offshore, and never get more than a slap on the wrist. This is the real “free market,” a highly profitable global banking cartel, functioning as a worldwide financial Mafia.

Scientific Research Proves the Existence of a Global Financial “Super-Entity”

In October of 2011, New Scientist reported that a scientific study on the global financial system was undertaken by three complex systems theorists at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland. The conclusion of the study revealed what many theorists and observers have noted for years, decades, and indeed, even centuries: “An analysis of the relationships between 43,000 transnational corporations has identified a relatively small group of companies, mainly banks, with disproportionate power over the global economy.” As one of the researchers stated, “Reality is so complex, we must move away from dogma, whether it’s conspiracy theories or free-market… Our analysis is reality-based.” Using a database which listed 37 million companies and investors worldwide, the researchers studied all 43,060 trans-national corporations (TNCs), including the share ownerships linking them.[1]

The mapping of ‘power’ was through the construction of a model showing which companies controlled which other companies through shareholdings. The web of ownership revealed a core of 1,318 companies with ties to two or more other companies. This ‘core’ was found to own roughly 80% of global revenues for the entire set of 43,000 TNCs. And then came what the researchers referred to as the “super-entity” of 147 tightly-knit companies, which all own each other, and collectively own 40% of the total wealth in the entire network. One of the researchers noted, “In effect, less than 1 per cent of the companies were able to control 40 per cent of the entire network.” This network poses a huge risk to the global economy, as, “If one [company] suffers distress… this propagates.” The study was undertaken with a data set established prior to the economic crisis, thus, as the financial crisis forced some banks to die (Lehman Bros.) and others to merge, the “super-entity” would now be even more connected, concentrated, and problematic for the economy.[2]

The top 50 companies on the list of the “super-entity” included (as of 2007): Barclays Plc (1), Capital Group Companies Inc (2), FMR Corporation (3), AXA (4), State Street Corporation (5), JP Morgan Chase & Co. (6), UBS AG (9), Merrill Lynch & Co Inc (10), Deutsche Bank (12), Credit Suisse Group (14), Bank of New York Mellon Corp (16), Goldman Sachs Group (18), Morgan Stanley (21), Société Générale (24), Bank of America Corporation (25), Lloyds TSB Group (26), Lehman Brothers Holdings (34), Sun Life Financial (35), ING Groep (41), BNP Paribas (46), and several others.[3]

In the United States, five banks control half the economy: JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs Group collectively held $8.5 trillion in assets at the end of 2011, which equals roughly 56% of the U.S. economy. This data was according to central bankers at the Federal Reserve. In 2007, the assets of the largest banks amounted to 43% of the U.S. economy. Thus, the crisis has made the banks bigger and more powerful than ever. Because the government invoked “too big to fail,” meaning that the big banks will be saved because they are very important, the big banks have incentive to make continued and bigger risks, because they will be bailed out in the end. Essentially, it’s an insurance policy for criminal risk-taking behaviour. The former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis stated, “Market participants believe that nothing has changed, that too-big-to-fail is fully intact.” Remember, “market” means the banking cartel (or “super-entity” if you prefer). Thus, they build new bubbles and buy government bonds (sovereign debt), making the global financial system increasingly insecure and at risk of a larger collapse than took place in 2008.[4]

When politicians, economists, and other refer to “financial markets,” they are in actuality referring to the “super-entity” of corporate-financial institutions which dominate, collectively, the global economy. For example, the role of financial markets in the debt crisis ravaging Europe over the past two years is often referred to as “market discipline,” with financial markets speculating against the ability of nations to repay their debt or interest, of credit ratings agencies downgrading the credit-worthiness of nations, of higher yields on sovereign bonds (higher interest on government debt), and plunging the country deeper into crisis, thus forcing its political class to impose austerity and structural adjustment measures in order to restore “market confidence.” This process is called “market discipline,” but is more accurately, “financial terrorism” or “market warfare,” with the term “market” referring specifically to the “super-entity.” Whatever you call it, market discipline is ultimately a euphemism for class war.[5] …

Local officials had one-day notice before doctor exposed to Ebola flown to Frederick

The decision to fly an American physician into Frederick, out of the heart of the Ebola outbreak, was made with little input from local officials.

The State Department decided Sunday to fly the physician from Sierra Leone to Frederick Municipal Airport. The doctor’s identity is not known, but the person was exposed to the Ebola virus while volunteering for an aid organization.

The National Institutes of Health has not yet confirmed or denied if the physician has contracted the deadly disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the virus has taken more than 3,000 lives in West Africa.

The city has been working on a memorandum of understanding with NIH and Fort Detrick regarding procedures when the city’s airport is used to transport patients, Frederick Mayor Randy McClement said.

The memo was not yet completed Saturday when the city received the call from the State Department about transporting the physician, he said.

The memo is modeled on a procedure used by the National Interagency Confederation for Biological Research, a body that consists mostly of the research agencies at Fort Detrick.  …

No requirement exists to notify the Frederick County Health Department when a potentially infected person is transported into the area, said Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, county health officer.  …

German Journalist Says Media is Paid by CIA

Members of the German media are paid by the CIA in return for spinning the news in a way that supports US interests, and some German outlets are nothing more than PR appendages of NATO, according to a new book by Udo Ulfkotte, a former editor of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, one of Germany’s largest newspapers.

Ulfkotte is a serious mainstream journalist.  Here he is on Germany’s leading political talk show a couple of years ago.  The book is a sensation in Germany, #7 on the bestseller list.  Its political dynamite, coming on the heels of German outrage of NSA tapping of their phones.  Check out the RT.com story on it in the video below.

Here at Russia Insider, it has long been apparent to us that there is something distinctly odd about the German media regarding Russia.  We follow it, and it is much more strident than even the anglo-saxon media regarding Russia, while German public opinion is much more positive towards Russia than in other countries.

Another interesting thing about it is that it is very disparate.  Some major voices are very reasonable about Russia, but most are negative, and some are comically apocalyptic.  This is what one would expect if there was some financial influence ginning the system.

We’ve been talking about this for a while now.  German public opinion is becoming more and more fed up with the what they increasingly believe to be a rigged media, and its starting to come out everywhere.

The allegations, while shocking, are consistent with the CIA’s long and well-established history of media infiltration.

Operation Mockingbird, which began in the 1950s, was a secret CIA operation which recruited journalists to serve as mouthpieces for the American government. The program was officially terminated after it was exposed by the famous Church Committee investigations, but evidence of ongoing CIA influence over the media continues to accumulate.  …

Decades-old news of course, but it doesn’t hurt to be reminded of the ocean of lies that we swim in.

3 Acts of Insanity in the American Education System

So much insanity in ever area these days. Appears someone likes chaos.

1. Threaten to hold back a straight-A student for serving her country. A 13-year-old, straight-A student in the Washington D.C. school system was recently labeled a truant. Her crime: excelling at the piano. The young girl is so gifted musically that she has played around the world and was hand-picked to serve as an international music ambassador by a prestigious foundation. So, she travels a good bit. But … she has maintained straight-A grades anyway. Though the D.C. school district does have the ability to override its attendance policy for extenuating circumstances, the wise owls atop the failing district decided that being a prodigy on a global level just doesn’t cut the mustard.

2. Arrest a frightened teenager for checking in on her sick mother. In Houston, a teenager at Sam Houston High was using her cellphone to deal with a family emergency — her ill mother. The school’s assistant principal demanded the teen’s phone because of an asinine policy about cellphone usage on campus. The teen refused because — again — she was dealing with a family emergency. But the assistant principal, displaying an amazing grasp of rationality, had already called for back-up — the police! And thus it was that a 4’10”, 70-pound girl, upset about her ill mother, found herself on the ground, the victim of jackbooted oppression. One cop pressed his knee on her skull while a second sat on her legs and handcuffed her. A third loomed nearby — you know, just in case the 4’10”, 70-pound villain overpowered the two substantially larger men of law and order.

3. Throw a student in detention for sharing his lunch. Remember that golden rule you learned as a kid: Sharing is caring? Well, not so much in Weaverville, California. For his act of kindness — sharing part of his chicken burrito with a friend who was hungry — a 13-year-old boy landed in detention. “It seemed like he couldn’t get a normal lunch,” the teen told a local TV station, “so I just wanted to give mine to him because I wasn’t really that hungry and it was just going to go in the garbage if I didn’t eat it.” To which the school responded that sharing food is prohibited because of food allergies and whatnot. That’s a legitimate reason … but detention is not a legitimate response to a non-crime. Weaverville, have you ever considered pulling the student aside to explain why the policy is in place instead of rushing to punish an act of kindness?
