In Ukraine, the US is dragging us towards war with Russia

Why do we tolerate the threat of another world war in our name? Why do we allow lies that justify this risk? The scale of our indoctrination, wrote Harold Pinter, is a “brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis”, as if the truth “never happened even while it was happening”.

Every year the American historian William Blum publishes his “updated summary of the record of US foreign policy” which shows that, since 1945, the US has tried to overthrow more than 50 governments, many of them democratically elected; grossly interfered in elections in 30 countries; bombed the civilian populations of 30 countries; used chemical and biological weapons; and attempted to assassinate foreign leaders.

In many cases Britain has been a collaborator. The degree of human suffering, let alone criminality, is little acknowledged in the west, despite the presence of the world’s most advanced communications and nominally most free journalism. That the most numerous victims of terrorism – “our” terrorism – are Muslims, is unsayable. That extreme jihadism, which led to 9/11, was nurtured as a weapon of Anglo-American policy (Operation Cyclone in Afghanistan) is suppressed. In April the US state department noted that, following Nato’s campaign in 2011, “Libya has become a terrorist safe haven“.

The name of “our” enemy has changed over the years, from communism to Islamism, but generally it is any society independent of western power and occupying strategically useful or resource-rich territory, or merely offering an alternative to US domination. The leaders of these obstructive nations are usually violently shoved aside, such as the democrats Muhammad Mossedeq in Iran, Arbenz in Guatemala and Salvador Allende in Chile, or they are murdered like Patrice Lumumba in the Democratic Republic of Congo. All are subjected to a western media campaign of vilification – think Fidel Castro, Hugo Chávez, now Vladimir Putin.

Washington’s role in Ukraine is different only in its implications for the rest of us. For the first time since the Reagan years, the US is threatening to take the world to war. With eastern Europe and the Balkans now military outposts of Nato, the last “buffer state” bordering Russia – Ukraine – is being torn apart by fascist forces unleashed by the US and the EU. We in the west are now backing neo-Nazis in a country where Ukrainian Nazis backed Hitler.

Having masterminded the coup in February against the democratically elected government in Kiev, Washington’s planned seizure of Russia’s historic, legitimate warm-water naval base in Crimea failed. The Russians defended themselves, as they have done against every threat and invasion from the west for almost a century.

But Nato’s military encirclement has accelerated, along with US-orchestrated attacks on ethnic Russians in Ukraine. If Putin can be provoked into coming to their aid, his pre-ordained “pariah” role will justify a Nato-run guerrilla war that is likely to spill into Russia itself.

Instead, Putin has confounded the war party by seeking an accommodation with Washington and the EU, by withdrawing Russian troops from the Ukrainian border and urging ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine to abandon the weekend’s provocative referendum. These Russian-speaking and bilingual people – a third of Ukraine’s population – have long sought a democratic federation that reflects the country’s ethnic diversity and is both autonomous of Kiev and independent of Moscow. Most are neither “separatists” nor “rebels”, as the western media calls them, but citizens who want to live securely in their homeland.

Like the ruins of Iraq and Afghanistan, Ukraine has been turned into a CIA theme park – run personally by CIA director John Brennan in Kiev, with dozens of “special units” from the CIA and FBI setting up a “security structure” that oversees savage attacks on those who opposed the February coup. Watch the videos, read the eye-witness reports from the massacre in Odessa this month. Bussed fascist thugs burned the trade union headquarters, killing 41 people trapped inside. Watch the police standing by.

A doctor described trying to rescue people, “but I was stopped by pro-Ukrainian Nazi radicals. One of them pushed me away rudely, promising that soon me and other Jews of Odessa are going to meet the same fate. What occurred yesterday didn’t even take place during the fascist occupation in my town in world war two. I wonder, why the whole world is keeping silent.”…

California Senate Passes Bill to Pull Plug on Illegal NSA Spying

A bipartisan bill which creates a mechanism to turn off all material support and assistance, including water and electricity resources, from California to the NSA passed the State Senate today. The vote was 29-1.

Dubbed the 4th Amendment Protection Act, Senate Bill 828 (SB828) would ban the state from participating in, or providing material support or resources to any federal agency engaged in the “illegal and unconstitutional collection of electronic data or metadata, without consent, of any person not based on a warrant that particularly describes the person, place, and thing to be searched or seized.”

Sponsored by Sen. Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) and Sen. Joel Anderson (R-San Diego), SB828 represents a growing opposition to NSA spying on a state and local level, and across the political spectrum.

“The NSA’s program is an unreasonable search and seizure of Californian’s electronic data and communications,” said Lieu. Anderson took a similar position on the Senate floor today. “We want to protect against terrorism, but it should never be at the cost of our liberty or freedom,” he said.

THREE AREAS

Practically speaking, SB828 addresses three major areas where NSA and other federal agencies rely on local support to carry out their surveillance programs. This includes resources such as water and electricity for physical facilities, university research partnerships, and sharing of warrantless data. …

What is the collateral on the US federal debt?

… A second undeniable truth is that we are deeply steeped in un-manageable, and un-payable debt. As indicated by the link to the Debt Clock above, the United States has over 17 trillion in debt and over 120 trillion in unfunded liabilities. I doesn’t take someone with a math degree to figure out that it is impossible to repay all of this debt, or fund the liabilities that have been promised to many. However, the criminals just keep printing; all the while driving us deeper and deeper into servitude. Are they seemingly unaffected by this because they have a plan to wrap all of this debt up in a land deal with our debtors? I say that there is a good possibility of this happening, and one can even see the “writing on the wall” if the evidence is examined critically.

As the debt piles up, government continues to grow and spend at a furious pace. One wonders how those making decisions cannot see that 120 trillion in unfunded liabilities is cause to put the brakes on spending. But I didn’t go to Columbia, so perhaps I am not qualified to make that call. Nonetheless, our posterity is destined to become familiar with one term, perhaps intimately, and that’s DEBT. But, do those in power have a bigger plan to use western lands as a way to satisfy our debt obligation? Please indulge me while I explore that avenue.

In the chart above, you get an idea of the enormous amount of resources that are contained within the boundaries of the western states. Unfortunately, much of the land, and subsequently the resources, are currently under Federal Control. And, because of that, states, and its citizens, do not have access to said resources. Minus the United States population, what you have in the chart above constitutes the real wealth of this nation; and why the Federal Government clings so tightly to its control.

Enter China

One of the biggest creditors to the United States debt is China, which is no secret. However, a fact that may be less known is how much land China is buying in the United States. Here is an excerpt from a story published by Michael Snyder, of The End of the American Dream blog.

Has the United States ever experienced a time when a foreign nation has attempted to buy up so much of our land all at once? As you will read about in this article, the Chinese are on a real estate buying spree all over America. In fact, in some cases large chunks of land are actually being given to them. Yes, you read that correctly. China is on the way to becoming the dominant land owner in the entire country, and that is starting to alarm a lot of people. Do we really want a foreign superpower to physically own so much of our territory?

The implications of the above article are chilling. How much more effectively can an enemy operate once they are inside the opposing camp? Look how well it has worked for those who have hijacked the US Government. They pretty much run things from the inside, and do so with impunity. But, recently, a peek into the overall plan may have been revealed. Again, Michael Snyder provides an insight into the overall plan in the following article. Is a giant Chinese land-grab underway? It sure seems that way. Why else would our government rack up piles and piles of debt, with seemingly no restraint? That is a good question, and one that leaves me with only one conclusion. These guys are going to take the cash up front, and leave all of us holding the debt load with our land as collateral. The solution is getting the land back from the Feds, and back in control of the states. Ken Ivory and Jennifer Fielder are doing the heavy lifting in this regard, and they need your support. Please visit the American Lands Council for ways that you can do your part. Meanwhile, please visit the following link and vote. I would be interested to hear your opinion on the subject.

China-Russia Energy Deal Serious Threat to Empire of the Dollar

We have previously profiled the “holy grail” gas deal between Russia and China on several occasions, and noted last week how it is expected to be signed this week – pending some final price negotiations. It appears that was spot on as Reuters reports, Russian state-run Gazprom said it was still “one digit” away from finalising a 30-year gas supply deal with Beijing which is expected to crown Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China next week. On the heels of Russia’s de-dollarization meetings, the coming week appears a crucial one for the history books of the US Dollar as reserve currency (or will China leverage Russia’s need to diversify from Europe and stall the deal once again?) …

Buying “Love” in Iraq, Punishing Honesty at Home

State Department employee Peter Van Buren told the truth about the US Iraq occupation:

Billions of dollars were wasted trying to buy the love of the Iraqi people.

(Perhaps not bombing them for ten plus years and then invading and occupying their country would have been a good place to start.)

Van Buren told the truth, submitted his book “We Meant Well” through the right channels, and the State Department approved it.

Now they want to take it back.

Don’t worry about terrorism, worry about the government’s response to it

McClatchy reported in 2010:

There were just 25 U.S. noncombatant fatalities from terrorism worldwide. (The US government definition of terrorism excludes attacks on U.S. military personnel). While we don’t have the figures at hand, undoubtedly more American citizens died overseas from traffic accidents or intestinal illnesses than from terrorism.

The March, 2011, Harper‘s Index noted:

Number of American civilians who died worldwide in terrorist attacks last year: 8 — Minimum number who died after being struck by lightning: 29.

Indeed, the leading cause of deaths for Americans traveling abroad is not terrorism, or murder … or even crime of any type.

It’s car crashes.

In fact:

With the exception of the Philippines, more Americans died from road crashes in all of the 160 countries surveyed than from homicides.

The U.S. Department of State reports that only 17 U.S. citizens were killed worldwide as a result of terrorism in 2011. That figure includes deaths in Afghanistan, Iraq and all other theaters of war….

Clearly the WOT is nothing more than an excuse to perpetuate endless war globally and domestically.

Chilean activist sets fire to $500 mn worth of student debt documents

Chilean activist and artist Francisco Tapia, also known as ‘Papas Fritas,’ has stolen and burnt $500 million worth of “pagares,” or debt papers. He then uploaded the video onto social media, claiming he had “freed” students by setting the papers alight.

The artist made his claim in a video that went viral on May 12, where he says that debt owed to the Universidad del Mar is now worthless.

The ashes of the burnt legal papers were later confiscated by police after they were displayed at the Centro Cultural Gabriela mistral (GAM) exhibition.

“It’s over, it’s finished. You don’t have to pay another peso [of your student loan debt]. We have to lose our fear, our fear of being thought of as criminals because we’re poor. I am just like you, living a shitty life, and I live it day by day – this is my act of love for you,” Tapia says in the five minutes of the video, parts of which were translated by the Santiago Times.

The theft and subsequent destruction of the documents happened during a ‘toma,’ or student takeover, of the campus.

Authorities began closing down Universidad del Mar last year due to financial irregularities, and while most of the students had to find an alternative school, the university is still collecting student loan payments. Now the owners of the university will have to sue each of the individual students – a very time consuming and costly process….
