Western Democracy: A Farce And A Sham

“The only terrorists Americans will ever experience are those funded by their own tax dollars within their “own” government. A people incapable of perceiving its real peril has no chance of surviving. America might be a military superpower, but it no longer exists as a free country with accountable government and a rule of law.”  — Paul Craig Roberts

Take heart reader: like the constitution, the “patriot” act and associated outrages are also just pieces of paper.  The question is which pieces of paper will be enforced as the law of the land.  That’s up to we the people.  Personally, I think the constitution is the hands-down winner.

There never was an Egyptian revolution

“The thrill is gone, the euphoria has faded and our mass delusions have been swept away to make room for the reality that there never was an Egyptian revolution. Eight months after deposing the old despot, Egypt is now in the firm grip of a new and improved military dictatorship – the Supreme Counsel of the Armed Forces. Any lingering doubt about the intentions of the generals to retain command and control of the ship of state vanished on Bloody Sunday.”

“It’s Official: “Arab Spring” Subversion U.S. Funded

“As American bombs rain down upon Libya on the premise that Qaddafi was brutalizing indigenous pro-democratic demonstrators, the accusing fingers of Libya, Iran, China, Syria, Belarus, and a growing number of other nations are pointing at Washington for funding and plotting regime change against their respective governments. Either in an act of absolute hubris or to spin emerging evidence that the US indeed has been funding and preparing the ground for the “Arab Spring” for years, New York Times has recently published “U.S. Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings.”  Essentially throwing these activists under the bus, New York Times exposes that the April 6 Youth Movement in Egypt, the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, and Entsar Qadhi of Yemen amongst others, received training and financing from the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute, and the Neo-Conservative lined Freedom House.”

“President Obama ordered his advisers last August to produce a secret
report on unrest in the Arab world, which concluded that without
sweeping political changes, countries from Bahrain to Yemen were
ripe for popular revolt, known as a Presidential Study Directive,
the 18-page classified report identified likely flashpoints, most
notably Egypt, and solicited proposals for how the administration
could push for political change in countries with autocratic rulers
who are also valuable allies of the United States…how to balance
American strategic interests and avert broader instability … The
White House held weekly meetings with experts from the State
Department, the C.I.A. and other agencies. The process was led by
Dennis B. Ross, the presidentbs senior adviser on the Middle East;
Samantha Power, a senior director at the National Security Council
who handles human rights issues; and Gayle Smith, senior director
responsible for global development….The report singles out four
for close scrutiny, which an official said…suggest Jordan, Egypt,
Bahrain and Yemen.”

So just who are these Egyptian activists that are advising the occupy wall street assembly?   Just something to think about…

Iceland’s Debt Crisis: Interview with Michael Hudson

Michael Hudson, President of The Institute for the Study of Long-Term Economic Trends (ISLET), joins us to discuss the example of Iceland’s struggle against the banking oligarchy. We examine the history of Iceland’s debt crisis, the government that has effectively signed the country over to the debtors, and the people’s efforts to reclaim their economy. We also look at parallels in the Greek situation and ask what we can learn from what the Icelandic people are going through.
